A Video Art Piece by KINGA KIELCZYNSKA:
IMPORTANT: use headphones for binaural sound effect
The video takes as its starting point Alan Weisman's book "The World Without Us."
It is a non-fiction book published in 2007 that explores what might happen to the natural and built environments if humans suddenly vanished.
A group of activists called ‘Camp for Forest’ defends the Białowieża Forest from increased logging. It is one of the last and largest remaining parts of the immense primeval forest that once stretched across the European Plain. It has been declared a UNESCO Heritage Site. The film tells the fragmented story of the fight between the activists and the loggers. It is composed entirely of footage gathered by the activists for the purpose of court evidence and to raise social awareness.
